Students attend Just Leadership day
On Friday 20 February, representatives from Year 11 and 12 journeyed to Saint Margaret Mary’s College in Townsville to participate in the Caritas ‘Just Leadership’ workshop.
The workshop, which was attended by students from Catholic schools throughout the Townsville region, examined a range of social justice issues such as the distribution of wealth and the treatment of refugees.
Working in groups, students were encouraged to see themselves as agents for positive social change and to develop strategies to address social justice issues in their schools and in the broader community.
The students’ experience at the Just Leadership day was informative and inspiring, and will no doubt motivate them to answer Pope Francis’ call to do more for the poor.
